Metro Water Recovery is accepting applications for an Instrument Specialist position! This position will be filled at one of two levels (Associate or Staff) depending on qualifications. Associate Level Job Duties:

  1. Monitors, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots analytical process instrumentation. Follows standard operating procedures and best practices.  Provides customer support for instrument data end users.
  2. Acquires samples, performs benchtop laboratory analyses, utilizes portable analytical instruments, and coordinates sample analysis with the MWR laboratory.   Performs routine QA/QC task and studies under the supervision of the Senior Instrument Specialist and Principal Instrument Specialist.   
  3. Generates reports that communicate instrument data quality, explains troubleshooting events, and quality control issues. Performs record keeping and data entry into databases and spreadsheets. 
  4. Performs instrument installation, configuration settings setup, communications settings setup, and signal validation of newly commissioned instruments and instruments that need to be moved to a new location.  
  5. Assist with the development, review, and use of standard operating procedures and business workflows.
  6. Assists with the execution of Instrument Solutions Program administrative efforts such as instrument inventory, chemical inventory, QA/QC efforts and committee assignments.   
  7. Performs other technical and administrative duties, as needed.

Staff Level Job Duties:

  2. Acquires samples, performs benchtop laboratory analyses, utilizes portable analytical instruments, and coordinates sample analysis with the MWR laboratory.   Performs routine QA/QC task and studies under the supervision of the Senior Instrument Specialist and Principal Instrument Specialist.   
  3. Generates reports that communicate instrument data quality, explains troubleshooting events, and quality control issues. Performs record keeping and data entry into databases and spreadsheets. 
  4. Performs instrument installation, configuration settings setup, communications settings setup, and signal validation of newly commissioned instruments and instruments that need to be moved to a new location.  
  5. Develops, reviews, and uses standard operating procedures and business workflows.
  6. Conducts Instrument Solutions Program administrative efforts such as instrument inventory, chemical inventory, QA/QC efforts, procurement, and committee assignments.   
  7. Assists with performance validation and testing of new analytical instrument technologies and sampling systems.  Help compile findings into an organized final report.
  8. Assists with the support of Engineering efforts, PAR projects, and capital and fixed asset improvement projects. Provides instrumentation technical support and expertise as needed.    
  9. Assists with internal and external outreach by helping develop presentations and attending industry engagements.  
  10. Performs other technical and administrative duties, as needed.
