Recommended Application |
Nylon |
Hydrophilic in nature and frequently utilized for the preparation of aqueous or mixed organic samples, as well as for HPLC, GC, or dissolution sample analysis, including bases, the majority of HPLC solvents, alcohols, aromatic hydrocarbons, and THF. It is not suitable for strong acids, strong bases, or applications requiring high protein recovery. It offers excellent flow rates across most sample matrices and exhibits extremely low levels of extractables.
|
PTFE |
Hydrophobic and ideal for samples based on organic solvents, whether acidic or basic, as well as all types of solvents, including aggressive solvents, strong acids and bases, alcohols, and aromatics. It exhibits chemical resistance to all solvents and possesses remarkable thermal stability when exposed to high-temperature fluids. This material can also be utilized with aqueous samples following a pre-wetting process with a small quantity of alcohol, subsequently followed by a flushing with water.
|
PVDF |
Characterized by hydrophobic properties and exceptional suitability for HPLC and GC sample preparation and purification, particularly for protein-based samples, this material boasts extensive chemical compatibility, a low protein binder, and minimal UV-absorbing extractables. It is applicable for use with alcohols, weak acids, proteins, peptides, and various other biomolecules, facilitating high protein recovery. |
PES |
The PES membrane is hydrophilic and highly suitable for tissue culture, media, and buffers, owing to its minimal binding of proteins and nucleic acids, as well as its superior flow rates. Compared to cellulose acetate, it exhibits enhanced chemical resistance. This membrane finds extensive application in clinical and toxicological settings, ion chromatography, ICP-MS, AAS, and capillary electrophoresis, particularly for strong bases, alcohols, proteins, and peptides.
|
MCE |
Hydrophilic and suitable for the filtration of aqueous samples requiring elevated flow rates and larger volumes, this includes processes such as the clarification or sterilization of aqueous solutions, particulate analysis and removal, air monitoring, microbial analysis, cytology, preparation and cleanup of HPLC samples, virus concentration, biological assays, and food microbiology (specifically the enumeration of E. coli in food products), as well as bacteriological studies. |
