PVDF syringe filters are utilized for the preparation and purification of HPLC and GC samples, the sterilization of enzyme and protein solutions, as well as nutrient media for cell and tissue cultures. Furthermore, they serve to clarify protein immunoassay samples and buffers for Western blotting, in addition to nucleic acid hybridization samples and buffers for both Northern and Southern blotting. Moreover, these filters are employed in the filtration of chromatography samples, buffers, and mobile phases.
PVDF syringe filters exhibit hydrophilic properties, are compatible with a wide range of chemicals, and possess low protein binding characteristics along with minimal UV-absorbing extractables. They perform effectively with alcohols, weak acids, proteins, peptides, and various other biomolecules, facilitating high flow rates during biological sterilization and clarification; however, they are not appropriate for use with strong acids.
